About Oudolf Garden Detroit

Inspired by the energy of Detroit after receiving a β€œlove letter from Detroit” from The Garden Club of Michigan (GCM), Piet Oudolf designed this naturalistic public garden on Belle Isle. Both artistic and ecological by design, he chose perennials, grasses, shrubs, and trees for their hardiness, durability, and ever-changing textures and colors for enjoyment in all four seasons. Oudolf Garden Detroit differs from other public Oudolf gardens in that it is run by its all-volunteer Grounds Crew.

Located at Loiter Way &, Picnic Way, Detroit, MI 48207, Oudolf Garden Detroit operates as a garden serving Detroit in Michigan. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In Detroit, u-pick seasons are short and weather-dependent, so check the farm's own page or call the same morning before driving out. Across Michigan, many farm stands are cash-friendly and close for the winter, and botanical gardens may charge admission or require timed tickets on busy weekends. Community gardens often keep waiting lists, so apply early in the year. Check the listing for hours, address and Google rating.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 5 am–10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. Its website is oudolfgardendetroit.org, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 65 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded botanical & public gardens in Detroit.

Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Detroit follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is the best place in Michigan! The feeling of community is unmatched. You can feel the positive vibes as soon as you hit the bridge. If you are a lover of the outdoors, community, history and great views of Detroit and Canada, this is a must see. There is so much to see and do, you can easily spend sunrise to sunset here. Grilling, picnics, music, cars, beach, aquarium, conservatory, massive garden, playgrounds, walking/biking trails, nature trails, all sports, and you are close to the Detroit Riverwalk to extend your visit! I LOVE it here!

This is a nice pollinator garden near the Belle Isle Conservatory. Honestly, I expected more variety in terms of plants, but it was still a great spot and a happy addition to things to do on Belle Isle. A volunteer was roaming and asked us if we had any questions, which was kind and surprising. It doesn't take long to see it, so I suggest you visit.

Very relaxing, open to the public right next to the Conservatory! πŸ’šπŸŒ³ So my brother’s getting married and he wanted some engagement photos here. He’s from Detroit but live in Alabama. They drove in and we ended up at this beautiful flower gardenπŸ’πŸͺ»πŸŒΌ We took some beautiful shots of them πŸ“Έ

A lovely place, even in the winter. Despite being close to downtown, this spot on Belle Isle makes you feel like you’re in another world. The views are stunning. I saw huge ships going by right next to the garden, which was a cool phenomenon. I was there in winter so the garden itself wasn’t that colorful, but it was well worth the trip. I drove around the whole island after visiting the garden (because why not?), and enjoyed my visit immensely. Good parking right next to the garden. Restrooms nearby next to the aquarium and the small indoor botanical garden.
